INTERIM LIGHTNING DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH ADDED TO 8/31

In the wake of Melanie Cruise's recent journey to compete in Japan and expected three month long stay, a void has been left in the championship title picture here in SSW.  With our Lightning Division Champion overseas and thus unable to defend her title, SSW owner RJ Daniels met with his staff this past weekend to address the issue.  We just got a statement from the owner on their official decision on the matter:

All of us in SSW could not be more proud to have our current Lightning Division Champion, Melanie Cruise, representing us and our country as she competes in Japan.  We know this is a great opportunity for her, and we are sure that she will make a huge impact while she is there.  As much as we respect Melanie and wish her all the best on her current journey, we still have an obligation to our fans and to the rest of our roster, and not having one of our championships available to compete for is unfair on both fronts.  The absence of the Lightning Division title not only would hamper the spirit of competition among our wrestlers, but it would also be a disservice to our fans who expect to see the highest level of competition and talent to be had in the region.  Part of that equation is the careful balance of championship divisions in our organization, and the Lightning Division Championship is an integral part of that equation!

That said, a decision has been made that we feel will both respect our current champion while also giving the rest of the roster an opportunity to compete for the title in her absence.  So, at "Best in the Midwest" this coming Sunday, we will be holding an "Interim" Lightning Division Championship match...the winner of which will become the new "Interim" Champion and will hold and defend the title as they would the official Lightning Division Championship.  Melanie Cruise will remain the official SSW Lightning Division Champion and the "Interim" Lightning Division Champion will be representing the division with their title in her absence.  Upon Melanie's return to SSW, the two champions will face each other in one-on-one competition to determine who truly is the "Undisputed" SSW Lightning Division Champion!

So, it is official.  A new "interim" Lightning Division Championship match will take place this Sunday at "Best in the Midwest", with the winner serving as Champion until she returns.  Information as to whom will be competing in this match has yet to be provided, but it is safe to assume some familiar faces from the Lightning Division can be expected to take part.
