It has just been announced that Jason Parks will be defending his newly won Interim Lightning Division Championship again Colin Smith at "Ring of Horror" on Sunday, October 19th! This will be the first title defense by Parks, who won the title at "Best in the Midwest" on August 31st, in what was later determined to be a tainted victory after pinning Colin Smith while using the ropes for leverage. Due to that, SSW owner RJ Daniels has named Smith the #1 contender to the interim title, and that he would challenge Parks in his first title defense!
The Interim Lightning Division Championship was introduced after Melanie Cruise was unable to defend her Lightning Division title due to her going to compete over in Japan. With her extended trip expected to last at least 3 months, SSW owner RJ Daniels announced the interim title to be defended in her absence. Whomever holds that title upon her return will then face her in one-on-one competition to determine the "Undisputed" Lightning Division Champion.
It is not yet known when Melanie Cruise will return to SSW, but, should she be back by our next event after October 19th, it is very possible that the winner of this match between Jason Parks and Colin Smith could end up facing her in that match!
