PAULY THOMASELLI VS DAVE RYDELL FOR #1 CONTENDERSHIP - THIS SUNDAY

This Sunday, at "EYES ON THE PRIZE", two men with a long history with Marshe Rocket, who have both been after his SSW title, will get one more chance to at the Championship.  The only caveat - they have to go through each other first!

Pauly and Rydell have spent the majority of the past year aligned with each other, under the mastermind Devin Diamond.  Devin first started his "champions club" when he and Rydell helped Justice Jones to defeat Vic Capri for the SSW Championship back in December of 2013.  After Justice lost the title back to Vic, Devin already had a new "chosen one" to lead to the title, soon to be revealed as Pauly Thomaselli.  Once again Devin and Rydell helped him to defeat both Marshe Rockett and Vic Capri in the epic "Iron Man" match at last year's "Lords of the Ring" event.

During the month's after, Dave Rydell made it clear to Devin that he did not like Pauly Thomaselli, and he felt that he was being overlooked by his own manager to be "the guy".  This became obvious back at "Headlock on Hunger 10" this past March, when Devin would make Rydell the special guest referee during Pauly's title defense against Shogun Chirs Logan.  During the match, Pauly "accidentally" hit Rydell with a clothesline, and when Rydell responded, he missed and hit Chris Logan instead.  This inadvertently helped Pauly to defeat Shogun and retain the SSW title.  But, after the match, the two almost came to blows, and clearly they were no longer on the same page anymore.  Devin apparently smoothed things over with his two clients, by appealing to Rydell that he was next in line behind Pauly, but, Rydell clearly was not happy with the situation.

Over the next few months, it appeared that Dave Rydell would be overshadowed by his "partner" as he waited to cash in his SSW title shot that he won in the 2014 "Lords of the Ring" tournament.  He would finally get his opportunity at our 12th Anniversary event last May, when Pauly lost the SSW title to Marshe Rockett.  Immediately after the match, Rydell came out to the ring and challenged Marshe to his first title match.  But, he wanted to have the match at our Season 13 Premiere event in September after our summer break.  He said it was because he did not was to take the belt from Marshe in a "cheap win" like Pauly did to Vic Capri, clearly taking a shot a Pauly.  The match was made, but, again, Pauly would throw a wrench in Rydell's plan, when Pauly would interject himself in the match, by implementing his "rematch clause", and creating a triple-threat for the SSW title. 

During that match, Rydell and Pauly would vent their frustrations with each other, and eventually costing each other the match, as Marshe Rockett would be victorious in retaining the title against the two.  Over the following couple months, Rydell and Pauly would be kept apart by their manager, Devin Diamond, and this seemed to put both competitors back on a winning path.  Unfortunately, that path leads directly back to each other, as both Rydell and Pauly won their respective "Beat the Clock" challenges, and are now scheduled to face each other, one-on-one, at "Eyes on the Prize", with the winner going on to face the SSW Champion at "Lords of the Ring" on December 27th.

So, finally, after months of frustration between Pauly Thomaselli and Dave Rydell, the two will finally square off to determine who gets the SSW title shot, and essentially who the "better man" really is.  Although this arrangement must bother their manager, Devin Diamond, we doubt he sees past the fact that either way this match turns out, one of his clients is going to get a title shot, and he plan's to be right by that man's side when it happens this December!
